Meet The Team

The Environmental Protection and Management Act, 2019 outlines the work of the Department of Environment. As a result there are several small teams within the DoE that complete the mandate derived through the EPMA. These teams include Technical, Administrative, Nursery, Security and Maintenance. The Minister of Environment oversees the protection of the nation’s natural resources and the development of policies to combat climate change. They lead efforts in sustainability, waste management, and conservation to ensure a resilient and healthy environment for all citizens.

The Director leads the technical and administrative operations of the department, managing environmental impact assessments and implementing national conservation programs. With responsibility for securing international climate finance and ensuring that departmental activities align with both national laws and global environmental standards.

Climate Change Amb.
The Ambassador serves as the primary diplomatic link between the nation and the international community, advocating for national interests in global environmental negotiations and treaties. This office focuses on building strategic partnerships with foreign governments and international organizations to advance cross-border sustainability initiatives.

Ministry Of Health, Wellness & The Environment Direct Responsibility: Secondary And Tertiary Healthcare & Environmental Affairs. Mr. O’Keiffe is a seasoned public sector leader with a distinguished record of service across several ministries within the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Principal Assistant Secretary liaises with the Permanent Secretary on matters regarding the appointments, promotions, transfers of Established personnel and employment of Non-Established Officers within the Ministry of Health.
