The Department of Environment uses a participatory approach to implement its programs and projects. Working with organisations and agencies nationally, regionally and internationally allows for the best possible solutions and innovations that can meet our national targets in climate change, biodiversity, sustainable land management, and pollution control.
Founded in 1990, the Department of Environment has grown into Antigua and Barbuda’s lead agency for environmental protection, international representation, and sustainable development coordination.
Under the EPMA (2019), the DoE leads national environmental policy, regulation, impact assessments, and protection of natural resources while coordinating international environmental commitments.
