Event Details

Bees and other pollinators like butterflies, bats, and hummingbirds are vital for the survival of ecosystems but face increasing threats from human activities. Pollination supports nearly 90% of wild flowering plant species, over 75% of global food crops, and 35% of agricultural land. Beyond aiding food security, pollinators play a key role in conserving biodiversity. To highlight their importance and the dangers they face, the UN established World Bee Day on May 20. This day aims to promote actions that protect pollinators, contributing to sustainable development, addressing global food supply challenges, and combating hunger in developing nations. Preserving pollinators is essential for halting biodiversity loss and maintaining ecological balance.
